Why starter motor fails after engine overhaul?

Starter failure right after engine overhaul is rarely caused by defective new‑replaced starter.Most issues come from assembly errors,changed mechanical resistance,electrical‑system oversight or flywheel‑ring‑gear damage during engine rebuild.

Mechanical assembly causes

1.Incorrect or lost starter shims.During overhaul,starter is removed;shims may stick to bell‑housing,get discarded or fitted incorrectly.Wrong shim thickness changes pinion engagement depth.Too little shim causes deep mesh,grinding,heavy impact load and rapid pinion/overrunning‑clutch destruction.Too many shims lead to partial engagement,spinning without cranking.
