How to replace starter motor brushes?

Replacing starter carbon brushes is a common low‑cost repair for worn‑brush‑related starter faults such as intermittent cranking,no‑cranking when hot,weak cranking and excessive sparking.This procedure applies to removed starter motors on passenger cars,trucks and light industrial equipment.Required tools include socket set,small flat screwdriver,fine‑grade sandpaper,soldering iron,heat‑shrink tubing,emery cloth and bench vice.Safety note:the starter must be fully removed from vehicle and disconnected from battery before disassembly.
