During a complete starter‑motor rebuild for passenger cars,trucks and light industrial equipment,certain wear‑prone components are routinely replaced,while structurally sound core parts can be cleaned and reused.The exact replacement list depends on visual inspection and bench‑test results.Rebuild aims to eliminate wear‑related failure points instead of only reassembling old used parts.

Conditional replacement parts.Return springs for solenoid and bendix mechanism must be swapped if weak,deformed or broken.Corroded terminal studs and damaged insulating washers require replacement to prevent short‑circuit.Any cracked insulating components should be renewed.

What should NOT be reused.Armature with turn‑to‑turn short‑circuit,bent shaft or lifted commutator bars;field coils with burnt insulation;cracked end housings.These core defects make rebuild uneconomical.

Post‑rebuild bench‑test requirement.After fitting all new components,perform no‑load bench‑test.Verify current draw,armature speed,solenoid pull‑in and retraction,bendix locking function.If performance fails OEM specification,re‑inspect replaced parts.
